The Odebrecht Foundation has as its singular feature of the brand the spirit of service, which pulsates at the root of all its actions. Instituted the Development and Integrated Growth Program with Sustainability for the Southern Bahia Lowlands Environmental Protection Areas Mosaic – PDCIS. The challenge is to make a dynamic and prosperous rural area depressed, with large environmental heritage, establishing the young talents in the field.
The pursuit of that common, overarching and noble goal, focused on sustainable development of the Environmental Protection Area of Pratigi contemplates, in one initiative, the Eight Millennium Development Goals, proposed by the United Nations (UN) and signed by 192 countries, including Brazil.
The shares favor the young and their interaction with family, aiming to transform the reality of rural communities. Ongoing projects promote the simultaneous development of four types of capital: Productive (Work position and equitable income distribution), Human (Quality field education), Social (Building of a more just and caring society) and Environmental (Conservation of natural resources).
Bahia Southern Lowlands
The Bahia Southern Lowlands is a region formed by eleven municipalities located in the southeastern state of Bahia. With a unique natural condition, the Bahia Southern Lowlands is a mosaic of Environmental Protection Areas (EPA), constituted of five of them.
Millennium Development Goals
The PDCIS contributes to achieving the eight MDGs concurrently, in a single initiative in the region of Bahia Southern Lowlands. It is believed that the promotion of actions to bring about the Goals 1, 2, 7 and 8, holds the remaining as consequence and natural effect.
Four Capitals
The action in the Bahia Southern Lowlands is through the interaction between the Productive, Human, Social and Environmental Capitals synergistically toward regional, integrated and sustainable development.
Participatory Governance
The promotion of development is a challenge whose magnitude and complexity outweighed the forces of the Odebrecht Foundation. To accomplish it, we encourage joint action and coordinated between Government (at the federal, state and municipal spheres), Private Sector and Civil Society Organizations, implementing an innovative system of governance.
